Kosher food for beginners!

We have some Jewish friends visiting shortly and they will be with us for lunch. We thought, perhaps, a buffet would be best.

Although we are reasonably competent cooks, we have no experience of cooking / serving Kosher food and quick research shows it's quite complicated.

Has anyone got any ideas about what we could provide them with???

I wouldn't patronise them by attempting kosher food - just serve a good fish or chicken dish and avoid pork of any description.
Roast chicken dinner always goes down
well . Jewish chicken soup, if you have
never tried it ..it's ace .Sure your friends
will enjoy what ever you cook , have a good
time .
Be careful not to mix dairy with meat!
You need to know if they keep to a Kosher diet - altho it would have been polite of them to tell you when they accepted the invitation. Your best bet is to serve vegetarian food or fish (no shellfish).
are you near manchester , you will find this shop very friendly and helpful

the meatballs wrapped in cabbage leaves made by hebrew international are yummy !
Do you know how they slaughter animals for kosher meat???
Perhaps you should look into it before you buy some, its barbarric, and inhumane!!!
Also don't serve any shell fish, monk fish. If the people are observant, and if you want to be on the safe side, it may be best to serve vegetarian food, check that any cheese you may serve is vegetarian too!
