Hi has anyone got any ideas on what aisle the dulce de leche would be on in a supermarket?! I can't even pronounce it to ask! Planning on looking in Tesco and Morrisons. Thanks

CO OP tend to put it with the condensed milk
A Dulce de leche is a rich toffee sauce. It was traditionally made in Argentina as a way of preserving milk during the summer. This delicious sauce can be warmed to make a quick topping for ice cream or poached fruit. Merchant Gourmet Dulce de Leche is available in both Sainsbury's and Tesco, 2.09 for a 450g jar

Yeah by the custards sake sauces etc....
Cake sauces,not sake sauces lol

Thanks everyone, that'll give me a starting point! Got a recipie for Shortbread Toffee Crumble Ice Cream Bars which requires it!
Dull-chay day Lay-chay...(Literally Sweet milk... made with condensed milk and caramel, at least in Mexico)
I've been looking for this item and not having any luck. Searched the web, and it seems to have disappeared. An alternative is made by Nestles in a tin, but needs to be beaten before use. Tesco don't sell it anymore, and neither do Sainsburys. If anyone has any info please pass it on. Thanks

BettM - sent the boyfriend to Tesco and Asda last night he couldn't find it anywhere, he said that Asda have a toffee sauce in their extra special range so think I'm going to use that as an alternative.
Its next to the jelly, custard and rice pudding in my tescos.
Look at the Dulche de leche San Ignacio website. It lists stockists everywhere - you may find a shop near you.
Just the name makes me drool. I LOVE dulce de leche icecream. Morrisons!
Clanad's attempt at spelling the correct pronounciation is completely wrong (unless you want to get laughed at).
Try to say it without making every 'e' sound like an 'ay' but like an 'e' is supposed to sound like i.e. the 'e' in 'egg'.

FF'sake it is not pronounced 'dool chay'. dul se (pronounced like 'e' in egg and not 'ay') de le che (no FN 'ay' pronounciation)
Try that it Sonora, Mexico, my friend... next stop, Immigation Service for attempting to impersonate a Laplander...
Thanks Atkinsonr - nearest Asda to me is Bromsgrove, but will travel - lol.

I have a feeling 'elf & safety' advice is not to boil tins of condensed milk!! But then, they will have us all behaving like sheep before long!
