Porridge

I've bought some real oats but the porridge I make is very coarse and 'bitty'. Why is that?

I make mine in the microwave. One third oats, two thirds milk, stir and zap for 5-6 mins. I use the cheapo value oats from the supermarket. My porridge is very good.

Real oats haven't been milled as fine as the usual oats you find and have more husks. Because of this they do not absorb the milk as well which softens them. You can easily resolve this by blitzing them for a couple of minutes in a food processor.
Yer nae stirrin them enough!

Ye cannae mak proper porridge wi mulk - jist watter and add some oat bran tae Guid ruffage
handful in bowl with enuf water to cover, microwave 1min. Remove, sitr in milk & sugar to taste. No sticky pans to wash!
