Since I have had my breadmaker I have made most of my own bread and it's beautiful.
However, today I decided to try the Honey Cake receipe from the instruction book provided. I followed it precisely but the cake failed to rise and although the flavour is fine the cake is shallow and of too dense texture.
Has anyone else tried this receipt? If so, how did it turn out?

Did you use wholemeal flour mad?

No SR as instructed.
& all the ingredients were measured correctly? I'm just looking in my breadmaker book, not a Swan but I presume they all work kind of the same. It says for a heavy & dense loaf/ cake, decrease flour by 1 tablespoon.

Yes, I've got digital scales so the weight is very precise.
How annoying is that! Was the flour in date? Actually, thinking on I tried a vanilla cake in mine & it wasn't really that deep!

I think the moral to this is; bread in the breadmaker, cakes in the oven lol.
I do like the breadmaker though because I can bung all the ingredients in before I go out to walk the dog and know that I don't have to worry about it.
I was thinking along the same lines mad! Cakes belong in the oven! x
