How do you make yours? I did it once in a slow cooker and it was rank the parsnips made a hideous taste.

beef, carrot, mushrooms, onion, leek, potato, swede and water and oxo.
I used to put in over at lunch and put dumplings on when i got home. Was ready 30 mins later.

And the oven would warm flat on cold winter days :)
Question Author
ok so how do I make dumplings?
packet mix, or ask mum. Ive never been able to make them like her, even when she told me how.
I'm in...and am very disappointed :-)
Put cubed Beef into casserole dish & dry-fry to burn off fat. Add peeled cubed potatos/whole-onions/carrots/cauli/peas. Bisto & cover with boiling water & season. Put into medium oven till meat is tender (2hrs?). Meanwhile make dumplings with suet mixture & add after 1hr into casserole.

Serve with hot crusty roll ;)

eeeeugh peas. I;ve just gipped
I wouldn't put cauli or spuds in either. I'd serve it with mash
s'market - Atora suet......instructions on packet - just wet & roll into golf-ball size.

I like cubes of potato, wouldnt do cauliflower
Question Author
thanks tambo
food is all about presentation and must always have something green added. More colors of veg more appetising.

If the casserole is too runny just mash the cooked potatos to thicken.
''I wouldn't add parsnips, they dominate - so does swede.''

^ thank you Fanny Craddock :-p

I like a gravy infused dumpling...
Dumplings.....2oz Atora Suet,4oz Self Raising flour(salt and pepper to taste).Add both to mixing bowl and slowly trickle in cold water, mix together using a non serated knife or spatula until a dryish dough mixture is achieved.Roll into balls and add to stew 30 minutes before it has finished cooking.
