is the lovely red stuff you get in things such as doughnuts and cream buns raspberry syrup? if so has enyone got a recipe for it, I thought it would be nice to make several bottles to give as extra pressies at Christmas as most of the family and friends like cooking cakes.

its just raspberry jam. heated up and passed through a fine sieve to remove all bits and seeds. then pipe it in.
Err no it's not raspberry jam. Having worked in a supermarket bakery, I can tell you that it's apple and raspberry jam which contains far less fruit than raspberry jam. This is industrial stuff full of colours and flavouring and is nothing like the raspberry jam yo can buy in jars.
Any jam that includes the word apple in it's ingredients list is an inferior product: it's used to bulk out the fruit cheaply

thank you both, it sounds as if it can be made easily enough, as i already have some jam, maybe if i sieve it and then bring it to the boil to kill any nasties that might float in it should keep okay, will give it a try.
"most of the family and friends like cooking cakes."

Question Author
