is it non-stick?
soak for 24 hours if it is.
If a metal pan, I put salt liberally sprayed, on the bottom and leave again for 24hours then wash as normal with a scourer and elbow grease.

Or you could try ariel and water and boil - Milton is good too
I always use a metal scourer and washing up liquid after soaking for a fair few hours
I burnt mine too this year. I doubled up on a plum jam recipe and it was like Vesuvious erupting. I took an old knfe and scraped the worst off, then I kept leaving it to soak in a dishwasher tablet and concentrated the scrubbing on a small area at a time. It took a few days but it's fine now. Note to self - don't double the recipe!

try putting a dishwasher tablet in the pan, fill it with water and leave it to simmer on hob for a while. a little trick i picked up from a chef.

My mum always swore by this too.(I wouldn't know I don't make jam)
I pour neat bleach in to mine when I burn them and it just seems to burn the stuff off...leave for a couple of days..
