How many dessert spoons are in a tablespoon?

When looking at recipes it always mentions tablespoons for measurements. I always thought that a dessert spoon was the same as a tablespoon but was informed recently it ain't. Is there an easy way to use dessert spoons instead of tablespoons to measure?

I believe that a tablespoon is 15ml a desert spoon is 10ml and a teaspoon is 5 ml - so just use the number of teaspoons as appropriate

Whoops! I've always worked on 2 tsp =1dsp, 2dsp = 1tbsp!

Funny, but it doesn't seemed to have made any noticeable difference, thank goodness. Especially when adding alcohol!

You could always invest in a set of measuring spoons - some stainless steel ones have the descripion (teaspoon, tablespoon, etc.) plus the number of millilitres, stamped on the handles. That way you won't forget what quantity is what. N.B. When a recipe says a tablespoon, it means a level measuring spoon's 15ml. With the different shapes and designs of the bowls of ordinary cutlery spoons, you may not get this exact measure.
