Can you refreeze tubs of butter once they have been defrosted?

My fridge/freezer decided to give up the ghost. All the food has been donated to that great dustbin in the sky...
What about tubs of butter? do they have to be binned as well or would they be able to be refreezed again?

Once any food is defrosted it cannot be frozen again. Health wise, not recommended!

I agree with TTG,
There is also the possibility that if you refreeze it,when it come to defrost it the 2nd time that the constituent parts of the butter will seperate,and you will have a milky/whey mess!

Butter can be re-frozen if it has not warmed to above 40°F. If it has warmed above that, look upon it as you would freshly bought butter that you've left out of the fridge.
