I picked up a bag of sweet potatoes yesterday that were whoopsied and I'm at a bit of a loss what to do with them- never eaten them before!

I've Googled, and Googled and googled but nothing tells me if I can make good old bangers and mash with them.

Sooo....can i?

Thanks.

apparently the outsides come up crisper if you soak the peeled or unpeeled and cut wedges in iced water for 20 mins then pat dry and roast in a hot oven
i like 'em when they're slightly overdone when you roast them too, they go all caramelised and a bit chewey on the outside.
ooops, buzzer just went. off to put the broccoli on to have with the chicken thighs and carrot and swede. this thread has made me absolutely RAVENOUS!!!!!
Make some soup with the potatoes and get yourself a sausage sandwich!
You could do them up as we, here in the U.S. do at Thanksgiving. First, you're calling them "sweet potatoes", but are they that or are they Yams? Sweet potatoes aren't nearly as orange as yams and are not as sweet.

At any rate, boil two or three until barely fork tender, peel, slice in 1/2 inch slices, arrange a layer or two in a baking dish and sprinkle about 1 cup (a double handful) of brown sugar over them. Place them in the oven at about 350 degrees (F) for about 1/2 hour, remove and top with a cup or so of marshmallows and return to the oven just long enough to slightly brown the 'mallows... serve warm...
