It's trial and error Molly. They are cheap as chips. Get them from the supermarket.

I think metal ones are better.

my dad can't stand metal on metal, its a family thing. My uncle is a plumber and its rediculous, plus they're both alergic to some metals.

so i thought getting a practical potato masher would be a good idea. And i'm getting him a case for his phone.
Metal on metal???
Question Author
metal spoon/ mashers on pans, knife clunking anainst fork, anything like that he really hates.
Mash them in a plastic bowl then.

Anyway....some plastic ones are really good. £1.99 in Morrisons.
get a potato ricer, they are much better than a masher.

but then mum tells him off for dirtying stuff unnecessarily. But he complains that me and mum can't mash properly and its all lumpy when we do it, so he has to. But he looks likes he's in excruciating pain when he does it.
Hi Molly, the plastic kinds are quite sturdy and durable, and they work just as good like the metal kinds. Is your family mental over metal? :-) (joke)
Question Author
good suggestion dave, but we used to have a garlic crusher and mum threw it away because it always smelt of garlic and was hard to clean out.
Question Author
only my dads family, me and mum are fine. Its quite funny to watch him mash potatoes.
I use plastic a one at work....and that is mashing for 20+people........it is fine.
Just make sure you don't buy too cheap....go to a good kitchen shop, or the housewares dept in a store like Debenhams or House of Fraser.
Question Author

Question Author
