We have salmon and cod, to put in a fish pie, but whats the best recipe, including mash potato, as we have no pastry?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You have a good base,cook fish gently in milk and keep milk to make a sauce,put some butter/margarine in a pan add flour and cook the roux out,add the milk from the fish and you will maybe need more milk until the sauce thickens,break up fish into chunks and then put in dish add chopped parsley and peas if liked also some quartered hard boiled eggs,you could add cheese to the sauce,but i would pour over the sauce mixing gently,cool and then cover in mash fork lightly and sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs,forgot to say season sauce with salt and pepper too taste bon appetie!

Make a roux. 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan, melt and then add 2tablespoons of plain white flour, cook for 2 mins. Add fish stock, a dash of wine or vermouth and double cream. Season with salt and pepper and add some dill and parsley. Add the chunks of fish to the white sauce and transfer immediately to an ovenproof dish and top with potato and place in the oven to cook. Voila !
