Now, for supper can I get away with some cold cuts, salads, a couple of quiches and some warm buttered rolls? - Or shall I do a hot supper dish?

all our welcome, there's loads - I always do loads of vegetables, and there's a stack of meat - would you like a proper starter? I can just imagine the size of merciasounds kitchen, she probably has three fridges, a commercial-sized freezer and restaurant-type hob, and an extra oven on the size! :-)
