Fennel?
A fennel?
Use in salads or slice it about 1/8 inch thick and steam it.
Cook like most veg...boil, steam or roast.
If it is fennel then there are some interesting recipes here.

I will be banging it in a curry I think, just to make use of it.
I've never tasted it, so it tastes like blackjacks? How odd!
I was going to advise you to throw it in the bin. I don't like it either.

Yes they will.
Fennel. lovely, it has a light distinctive taste we had it with some rabbit I'd buy it again.
