I have a recipe which uses a 1000 watt microwave and says to cook for 3 minutes on full power however my microwave is only 800 watts. How long do I need to cook the recipe for in my microwave? Thanks

about 1/5 of the time extra so . . . 1/5 of 180 seconds is 36 so 3 mins and 36 seconds give or take a few seconds.
Make it 4 min :-)
I think it's actually a 1/4 of the time more. An 800 kw to 1000 kw needs a 25% increase.
total wattage = watts x time = 1000 x 3 = 3000

New Time = total wattage / microwave wattage = 3000 / 800 = 3.75
= 3 minutes 45 seconds.
