tonight I had a tin of mushy peas, a tin of new potatoes and a couple of frozen best buy beef burgers which I fried in butter. I know this is a really nutritious meal but how can I brighten it up? I tried all the usual like mixing the mushy peas with mayonaise and mushing up the tinned new potatoes with brown sauce but I want something original as I got a girl combing round tomorrow and want it to be really tasty. Oh it must be cheap too as I'm on a budget.

Keep everything as is but change the mushy peas for lightly steamed asparagus tips served with shaved parmesan cheese..forget the brown sauce and hope to god your girl has as little culinary appreciation as you seem to have..Ill give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are taking the pees..:-)
I swear by Exotic sauce - a sort of sweet & sour sauce, it brightens up any dull dinner!
You having a giraffe lol
Put the burgers, peas and potatoes in a small bag, twist-tie the top and place in the bin. Phone the takeaway.
you could try adding more meat?
Meat is murder ya know...
so is ripping a carrot out of the ground or an old man weeing in the bushes

my friend told me a good idea was to mash up the potatoes with a little tiny bit of lard and saffron. As I always keep the fat from bacon in the pan maybe I could use that but I thought saffron was expensive? He said you can buy it dried just over a pound but are there any alternatives that you can find in the home?
How about rustling her up something from scratch? You know the old saying "Make a girl a good main course and she'll serve you pudding in bed"
What about some sweetcorn, but make sure she doesn't chew it!!
I do hope you are joking! "Really nutritious"???!!! Burgers? Look at the ingredients. Tin of new potatoes? Buy fresh from a proper greengrocer - prices are coming down and the spuds are gorgeous. Anyway, the girl's only "combing" around, so why worry about food?
