I love Aldi - only problem, they don't sell tinned chickpeas!! But their stuff is excellent quality. Don't know how true this is, but I was told that in Germany Aldi is on a par with Waitrose!?
I read something like that.
Hi smart. My friend lives in Germany and she says that. Lidl is not well thought of over there.
I like Aldi, I have one of their fabric bags. They are good and strong, we used to have two Aldi stores, sadly the one near me has closed down.

probably both 2shortplanks but I wouldn't let it worry you :o)
Look at their non-food stuff too. I bought a leather swivel reclining chair six-months ago for £99 similar to one in John Lewis for £250. It's very comfy and hasn't fallen apart yet!
I always get my summer imitation Croc sandals from Aldi, I think they're £2.99 or £3.99 as opposed to £20+ for the real thing.
some good offers from the 12th august....

I'm having one of those steam cleaners and will try the face creams

My husband is German so Aldi and Lidl are favourite shops for us and they seem to have adapted themmselves a bit to how we like a shop set out .In the German Aldi and Lidl they pile it high and sell it cheap mostly all on pallets .
However they are not really on a par with Waitrose in Germany .Tengelmann is however and Edeka and Rewe.
Most Germans prefer local shops and markets or go to out of town hypermarkets such as Obi . They have very few large chains holding people to ransom as to where they shop unlike us with the big four .
In the small town in NRW where my husband is from people drive to the next town to shop in Aldi and Lidl so they have less chance of bumping into into people they happen to know who would look at them aghast for shopping there .Snobs !
Hi shaney, lidl is like that here, a right scrum at times, but I like the fact that they advertise in advance as to when certain goods would be in, I got a fold up bed there two weeks ago, looks OK too. I don't much like the food, but daughter seems to get good bargains there and lovely peach jelly! We are also held to ransome as only two big name here Hypercentro and Euroski and they have managed to keep the big stores out so how Lidl got in I'll never know! Best trainers I ever had were 12€ and I've had them for about 6 yrs now,
