If I make a big batch of curry (without rice) can i freeze it in portions and have it when my parents are eating something i don't like?
Also, with the different kinds of curry, are there certain things in some that you can't freeze such as lentils? If so, then i can make a curry without lentils or rice, and when I reheat it, i can boil so rice to go with it, so I don't poison myself.
i freeze leftover rice too. and all the other bits and pieces you have with a curry, like naan, samosas and bhajis. there are actually very few things which can't be frozen.
Not sure that I would freeze rice.....it would get too 'wet' and rice needs VERY THOROUGH re-heating as it is known to carry a particularly nasty bacterium....yes,yes-I know...I can hear all you lot saying re-heating has never bothered you..!
pasta, far from becoming 'wet', i find pre-cooked frozen rice becomes drier and needs a little water to help steam heat it in the micro.
i imagine the rice you buy from a take-away is more likely to be a problem regarding the nasty bacterium you're referring to. and yes, you're right, never had a problem with reheating frozen rice :)
Ah, there be the catch, mccfluff.
"If I make a big batch of curry ..."
"But I don't have the first clue how to make a curry ..."
Sorry to butt in, I've been lurkin' around mollykins' posts for a coupla days now & I couldn't resist any more - she absolutely cracks me up ! It's certainly made night shifts less tedious. No offence meant, none taken I hope, but thank you :o)
