my mate got a pizza the other night and was fuming to discover all the jalapenos on it had kind of light brownish scratchy looking marks on the sides of them...she says its because they are old an shrivelled and rotten... they looked fine other than this.

are they? ive seen them like that before from a jar and just assumed that sometimes the skin looks like that...didnt give it much thought...but she is livid.

are they safe to eat?

thanks

Of course they're safe to eat. We're growing some similar in the conservatory, and they have similar, natural markings.
The ones I grew had these brownish scratches/wrinkles on as well, ate them with no ill effects, very nice they were as well.
