Where can I buy dates (edible!) for Xmas

Can anyone help me please. I am finding it hard to find any shop that sells dates. Preferaby in the oblong box with a plastic "fork" to get them out with. Thanks.

Morrisons always have them. Maybe a bit early yet.

Waitrose sell them but the box isn't oblong..not sure if there's a fork. Good greengrocers tend to stock them.

Morrisons and Asda,most supermarkets sell them now, but take care. I love dates and bought myself some at Lidl last week (not a regular shopping venue for me). The dates were £1 and looked OK, but they were very hard and stringy. Later I noticed they had some in Morrisons at £2 the better known brand and I will probably try them out another time. They also had some other dearer ones nicely laid out in a clear box but it only 9 dates in it.

Anywhere that sells dried fruits and nut would also carry dates.

Gran you could always chop-up the hard dates and use it cereals, hot and cold.

There is nothing quite like the fresh dates you can buy inside the indoor market in Oxford. Lovely.

Now AOG will not like this answer - but do you have any good Muslim vendors in your neighbourhood - esp Iranian, Moroccan or Tunisian - may be worth a check out

my halal butchers sell them all year round, nicer than the box ones with the fork.

Jem that is where I got the hard stringy ones last week for £1. I will be miffed if you got a box of soft ones.

the shop does not sell just meat ayg. they even sell vegetables..... what next eh ?
