Does anyone know where I can buy a Thermos type hot food jar (like a flask for hot food rather than drinks) but i am specifically looking for one which can be plugged into a car power point (cigarette lighter) to keep it hot for longer ...... TIA

There is this- http://www.amazon.co....Q/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t

tho the delivery time is too long. Scroll down the page for some very good reviews-6 hours and still steaming hot.

Or this one- http://www.amazon.co....Z2Q406/ref=pd_cp_lp_2

And finally this- http://www.amazon.co....DK17C/ref=pd_sim_sg_2

Somewhere like Halfords might be a good place to start.

Thank Boxtops, but they don't seem to have anything - looking for something like the Stanley Food Jar, but that plugs in to car to keep it hotter for longer as the Stanley one only keep warm (not hot) for 5 hours......
Crumbs, I don't know what to suggest then - 5 hours seems like a reasonable time to me!
have you tried any sites re baby warming food flasks ?

It is a reasonable time Boxtops but when you work 12 hours and don't eat unil 6/7 hours in it's just not hot enough!!

Tried the baby warmer option but none have a big enough cpacity for an adult size meal

But thanks for trying both of you x
I see what you mean, echokilo - no microwave or anything at work? I would find that difficult too. I wonder if Milletts or one of the camping shops would have anything?
buy a small portable kettle & change the adapters
have you read the question soc? It has to be able to be plugged into a 12v supply - ek has said 5 hours hot isn't long enough :)

Thanks for trying everyone - is for someone who works roadside and so no microwave etc. Thanks for all your ideas.
Camping Gaz used to market a range of coolboxes etc and in very small sizes, as well as matching flasks......these were very high performing and one of their largest boxes could keep ice in it for a week if loaded as a block.

People forget that these boxes can be used as hot boxes for food....and in Egypt, there was a tremendous market for the small stuff as individuals could go around selling soup and drinks, as well as hot lunches..... No tricity needed of course.
I did read the question Bednobs but forgot about the car-plug-in in my search for lunch containers. Sorry if i offended you and hope you accept my apology. You must be quite perfect.
Camping Gaz is a brand of Application Des Gaz (ADG) out of Paris.....used to belong to Shell (well 70%) and they sold onto Coleman. Dont know if Coleman still have them...
And 5 hrs wouldnt be an issue.......
whoops, you appear to have taken my answer the completely wrong way, sorry sorry sorry! i had hoped the smile at the end would let you know it was meant lightly.
Sorry again :)
op, i forgot to ask if the person is able to have their engine on all the time? If not, you can't use them for reheating - they don't get hot enough

Thanks Pasta - have just ordered the Pioneer one as the reviews are really good ..... as long as it's hot at 6/7 hours I will be happy and it claims to work for up to 24 hrs so will be better than the current Stanley one we have.

Thanks to everyone else too!!!
