I love mashed potatoes but never seem to get them as tasty as I want them, I mash them with milk and butter but they are still a bit bland, any suggestions?

First, choose a good yellowish variety of potato... our favorite here in the U.S. is Yukon Gold... for a family or friends of about 6 to 8, use maybe 5 pounds of potatoes...
After cooking (never overcook) mash gently to a lumpy texture. Mix the following
1 package 3 ounces of Cream Cheese
1 container (8 ounces) of sour cream
1/2 cup of half and half milk/cream
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Just a shake or two of onion salt
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly together and add to the potatoes and mix/mash to your desired texture... we like them a little lumpy. In fact we like them with some of the skins on...
You can serve them this way or you can pop them into an oven at a fairly high setting to brown the tops sligtly...
