I;ve bought an oven ready Duckling for the first time and I would like to think I can roast it at the same time as the small turkey on Christmas morning, I have a double oven and would tend to use the main one for roasts, can I cook them in the same roasting tin?

Duck will produce a lot of fat, which is lovely for roasting potatoes; stand it on a wire rack over your tin. I wouldn't put them in the same pan as turkey fat is yeuch. Incidentally,,,duckling is just a duck only smaller LOL
I wouldn't, dotty - we always cook duck on a rack over a roasting pan, so the fat can drip away from the bird and it doesn't sit in the fat.
of course you can, just put them in at different times so they are ready at the same time, heres some recipies.

Dave.
sorry, misread the question, no, dont put them in the same roasting tin, but its ok to put them in the same oven.

Dave.
Yes,both have cooking times of 20 minutes per lb plus 20 minutes extra at 180 or gas 4.
sorry Dotty just re read, not in the same tin.The duck will be a lot fattier so pop it on a rack. Sorry I read too fast!

I don't do recipes, I have never owned/used a recipe book in my life (well I was given one as a wedding present but it vanished very quickly), I just roast them both then in the same oven but seperate tins and a rack or the duck.....I can do that!
Yum yum dotty, I love duck....

I spotted them in the freezer in Tescos, £6 each, so was the small turkey and so I bought one of each, it will be great to cook them both at the same time and then we'll have a curry when i get home from work on boxing day.
I hope you're not using the duck for a curry...it seems a waste. Do have some for your Christmas dinner.
dotty, thank you for this post - you just reminded me that I have a couple of duck breasts in the fridge.... they are now in the oven!
I've always pan sauteed my duck breasts...and served with a caramelised red onion and wine gravy. Gosh...haven't had that in ages...lol

No we'll have the duck and or the turkey as Christmas Dinner, we don't so sauces, only gravy lol
