What's an easy way to "flatten" fizzy drinks?

I enjoy the taste but the gas causes problems!!

If the fizzy drink is in a bottle shake it like mad (with the lid on unless you want to get soaked) and all the fizz (or most of it anyway) will be gone.

One of my friends did it to me the other day >:|

Leave the lid off for a couple of hours! I actually add a little plain water with fizzy drinks for the same reason as you describe.
Don't know if this would work but you could try soda stream syrups and not do the fizzing bit!
the simplest way is to pour in glass and leave for few minutes.
I love flat-ish coke too.  I pour it in a glass and give it a great big stir with a tablespoon.

Thanx for all the answers so far.......I'm not too sure about adding sugar...that might be self-defeating...and I too tend to give the stuff a good stir with a fork or a spoon.    3 stars to everyone so far.
I'd like to clarify my last answer: shake the drinks container like mad with the lid on, then let it sit for a few minutes, then cautiously open the lid - and there will be hardly any fizz left.
You could use two glasses.  Mostly fill the one.  When the fizz subsides, pour it into the other one.  When the fizz subsides pour it back again.  And so on.  Not easy to do in a pub, perhaps.

...try blowing into it with a straw...

...by the way a doctor friend of mine once told me that flat diet coke was most excellent for an upset tummy...
