Does anyone know of a good recipe that doesn't use milk powder or milk that I can use to make bread in the machine? I have made bread in it a couple of years ago but gave up as the bread was heavy and didn't taste that good. I have decided to bring the machine out from retirement as bread in the shops have really rocketed in price but I don't want to make heavy bread like before. Thanks for any tips!

the best way i found is to use the french bread recipe ,just to mix it get it out of the machine cut it up proof in awarm place 40 mins then bake 180 cent in middle oven for 20 mins keep a eye on though i think you can use something else than milk powder try soya milk

Thanks for the recipe link, Pastafreak. I'm going to try that tomorrow!
If that's no good, I'll try Barty's but I don't even like soya milk so I'll probably omit that. I wonder why alot of the recipes for bread machines include milk/milk powder whereas I don't think supermarket bread such as Hovis white, has any milk in it?
The recipe I use in my breadmaker doesn`t use milk powder. I`m not sure of the size of your/my machine I couldn`t really pass on the recipe without knowing. The recipe was just a basic white which was in the booklet that came with the machine.
I've got a Panasonic one (don't know if you can find the recipe book online). The recipe I use has no milk or milk powder and the bread actually comes out like bread (not like a brick as it did with the machine I had ages ago). If you don't get any luck, let me know and I will type it out for you.
I came across this also...but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. I used to make a potato bread by hand-and it was a favourite of mine-VERY moist.
