The best way to enjoy lychee is to eat it fresh, as you do. I love lychee, I could eat it everyday.
They are the spawn of the Devil ... UUUGGGHHHHH, lol

Hello there, from time to time Isend recipes from Bangkok although they are not all Thai. This one is, and it is good. First, a little history. The lychee was originally grown in China and nobody, but nobody could eat it except the Emporer, unless he gave permission. When I lived in China is was just about impossible to buy them and most of my Chinese students and friends had never heard of them. Fresh is great but try the following, especially on a hot day:

Lychee and Grape Juice

Ingredients

85 ml/1/3 cup grape juice, 20 ml/1 1/4 tbsp lychee pulp, a squeeze of lime or lemon juice

Method

Put the ingredients into a blender and blend until the lychee fruit becomes a purée. Pour over ice in a glass and serve cold. Enjoy.

thanx all. 'nuf sed.

Whenever I go to a pub quiz the question is "what is a Chinese gooseberry"? to which I always say Lychees. But they always say that it is Kiwi Fruit.
"to which I always say Lychees. But they always say that it is Kiwi Fruit."

... so why do you always say Lychee? lol :-P
they are nice in a tempura batter with syrup
BLEUUUGHHHHH, lol
I've never eaten a French school before !
Naz..........I wholeheartedly agree with you.......YUK and thrice YUK!!

( and one for luck.........YUK! )
I like their flavour but I do find them a bit weird, like fruit from another planet; you peel off the spikey lizard skin and what's inside? an eyeball! ..not just an eyeball, but an eyeball with an elongated conker inside ! Definitely from outer space.
Would you eat a Spiny Anteater's ballbag? ... NO!
