Don't know about York area, you could try Manchester China Town.

It's Dim-Sum.

Morello it might not be. In Australia we have Dim-Sum or Yum-cha which is lots of different snack size goodies ordered from little round baskets.

Dim Sims are dumpling type of things which can be mince or chicken with vegetables.

Dim sims are often sold steamed or deep fried at takeaway shops with no other Chinese food on the menu. Is that what you're looking for Hugoboss?

Yes, as I said - Dim Sim! not SUM. It's for an Ozzy friend of mine living in this country. Thanks Graemer, you know what I mean!

Not good news I'm afraid.  I am an avid fan of the good old aussie dim sim but have been told by a number of sources that they are no longer imported.

Hopefully someone out there will prove me wrong.

I don't get how a Chinese invention became an aussie icon unknown to the rest of the world! When I lived in London I craved steamed dimmies more than vegemite and Violet Crumbles. I even contemplated a business that would import them! Good luck in your search Hugo and Istill wear your suit with pride.
I stand corrected. Only ever heard of Dim-Sum around here.
graemer, you'll be pleased to here you can get violet crumble in the uk for a limited period, under the name golden crumble!

Being Australian and living in the UK for the last 20 years l have dearly missed the humble dim sim (Not DIM SUM, which is quite different).  The only place l have been able to get dim sims is from the Australia Shop in Covent Garden but this was a few years ago.  www.australiashop.co.uk

They were delicious but as l live in East Yorkshire we had to get them here frozen wrapped in paper and stored in an icebox!  But it was worth it!  I emailed the manufacturers Marathon www.marathonfoods.com.au once about where they exported to but got no answer.  Sadly, the only time l can have dim sims, chiko rolls, etc is when l visit my back there.

I knwo it has taken 3 years but they are now here and on sale in London in such places as Australian Shop - covent Garden. Jumbucks - Shepherds Bush. Empire Fish Bar - uxbridge road and Chris's fish bar.
They have been made by Marathon and are the genuine article.

Happy eating
