Training yourself to like certain foods

During the several hours it took me to get to sleep last night I got thinking about my diet and how right now I always want to eat. Constantly. The problem is I'm really fussy and not a big fruit eater at all. The guys at work spend all day eating bags of grapes and I've heard they are really good for you so something like that would be good to munch on through the day. Apart from the fact that I hate them. The texture of anything with skin, like grapes, tomatoes, beans, etc makes me feel sick. Do you think you could train yourself to eat and like foods you have previously detested?

Well grapes may be good for you but they are mega high in sugar and quite acid to have on your teeth all day. While I have grown to like foods I didn't, I think its because my tastes have changed (I now dislike foods I previously loved) rather than "training myself"
do you like carrots? peppers?...in fact what foods do you like?

Carrots are one of the few veg I do like. Not too keen on peppers. I'll eat them if they are almost burnt to a crisp. My daily diet usually consists of tuna, chicken, bread and some sort of patatoe. The amount of stuff I don't eat that I should be eating suggests I should be dead I think. I was thinking about having a fridge full of yogurts (ones with no bits) but I don't think eating lots of that is overly good for you either is it.
Why try the fruit chopped or a smoothie?

That's the other problem I have Pixi, it's pathetic but I'm actually a little bit terrified of food. Some of those you have suggested I have either never tried (and am scared to) or will eat but only if they are diced so small that you can't even see it. It textures I have a real problem with, which is why I'm also scared of smoothies. Because they are not actually entirely smooth are they?

Can I also just say, Potato. Not Potatoe.
Can you put a smoothie through a sieve?

milly with respect I think your relationship with food goes beyond detestation. have you considered addressing your fear of food psychologically?
unsweetened greek yoghurt is great and you can get low fat versions if calories are an issue...if you could tolerate it, use sticks of carrot as a dipper for a healthy snack

To be honest, never really think about it Woofgang. I'm sort of used to it by now and I have improved slightly with age. I'll eat and enjoy some fish now which I would once run screaming from. Not really sure why I'm like it, all my siblings and parents are 'good' with food but I've always been a problem. Perhaps I'll look for some greek yogurt tomorrow. I've never tried it but if it's bitless I'm sure I'll be fine with it.
