I have seen a recipe that calls for lavender leaves in a cake. Do you think these are just the ordinary ones I have growing in my garden or some specially for culinary use?

I would say any ordinary ones will do it
You can buy them in a jar from Lakeland, they are crystalised.
Yes the ones in garden Hopefully not as strong as the flower heads broken up. Tried some Lavender bread once, considering the small amount of florets in it. The flavour was strong and long lasting in the mouth. An acquired taste!!!!!
