Very simple recipe, uses only condensed milk and icing sugar, and a couple of drops of peppermint essence.
Mix condensed milk, icing sugar, and essence, together until it resembles a dough. Take small portions and by hand roll out on baking board dusted with icing sugar, into sausage shaped rolls, about the thickness of chipolatas.
Cut the rolls with kitchen scissors into one inch lengths. This gives you a bon-bon shape. Continue working until all the dough has been used. Then set the prepared pieces aside on greaseproof paper (not touching each other). to dry out. Ready to eat or put into small boxes or bags, the next day.
You can also experiment with other food colourings and essences to make pink, green, or yellow bon-bons, using the same method.
This was very popular during the 2nd World War, when sweets were on ration.
Hope this is of help.
