I am new to "slow cooker" and I have just had a lovely casserole but the potatoes were still quite hard. I thought I just put everything in together and that was it ! It has been on low all day, should I part cook them first ?

i've followed one recipe for the slow cooker which contained potatoes and it stressed putting in the rest of the dish (a casserole i think) then placing the potatoes in last around the sides of the slow cooker. the potatoes came out perfect along with the rest of the dish.
True woof :)
have you ever tried the haybox method? I've only read about it
no, I haven't...its one of those things i keep thinking I'd like to. I remember on the victorian kitchen they had hayboxes used for picnics...they were beautiful, polished wood and the hay was covered with blue velvet. They were made to measure for the individual pots....far cry from an old tea chest and a load of straw.....
