I've just bought one of those lovely coked ham hocks rom the deli counter, and a packet of quick soak peas. As OH is away, I thought I'd eat some of the hock and make pea & ham soup with the rest. Can I do this with cooked ham? know most the recipes I see are for raw hocks. Thanks:-)

Hi horseshoes, I made pea & ham soup with cooked ham the other day. I also used frozen peas which you have to cook for them to go mushy.
I can't answer your question I'm afraid, but am quite prepared to act as official AB taster for the result :)
Yes, strip the meat from the bone, use the bone to make the stock and do everything else as though it were a raw ham hock. Simmer for a while and then enjoy.

Thanks all:-)

Sounds good. I'll get going immediately, before I eat it all - it's lovely!

Just bung everything in a pan and simmer for as long as possible. I sometimes use frozen mushy peas to make pea soup with - just add more water. Pea and ham soup? Serve with some fresh granary bread - food for the Gods!
