I left Leicestershire 6 years ago and I am pining, nay yearning for a proper cob.
The supermarkets sort of sell them here but they're not the same, they're too doughy. I want my bread to shatter!
Please please please does anyone have a recipe?
While we're at it, can you send me up a proper chicken tikka masala (they're full of cream here, yuk) and a decent lamb kebab. My local kebab house doesn't even offer salad or lemon.
The new fish and chips are way better than Leicester's though, I have to admit. No skin for a start.
So, can anyone put me out of my misery?
I've tried various recipes from the internet that say they're crusty cobs, but they're not.

I'm in Leicestershire and I know the cobs you mean..... Have you tried Asda? in Scotland they do a high baked crusty cob that is virtually black on top, Asda may do the same in yorkshire. Can't help with the curry though. Good luck in your quest x

I've tried every supermarket in a 30 mile radius. Maybe I need a 100 mile radius
which of the Yorkshires Mojo?

North, Humber
can really only suggest a trawl round the independent bakers then, the supermarkets all seem to sell the same stuff

Yeah proper crusty ones are great, really tasty too, and a must have whilst one still has one's own teeth. But not so easy to find since the corner shop baker became rare.

What I'd like to see is proper smoked back bacon without the rind stolen too. They go well in the cob; with a fried egg maybe. There again loads of things go well in such a thing. Cheese & onion (or maybe tomato). Oh loads of fillings.

Stop it OG. I'm drooling now lol.
I've decided to try adding steam to the bake.
I've got 6 cobs (hopefully) on their second prove right now.
