what are chocolate dots?

I have an old fudge recipe and it calls for 2 pks. of chocolate dots and I was wondering that is the same as chocolate chips...thanks anne

It depends what you are wanting to do with them.By their very nature they are made to withstand heat so if you wanted them to melt they will be no good.Why not buy a block of cooking chocolate if you can`t find dots.
Sorry I was talking about choc chips not melting.
I THINK what Pie Maker wants to know is can chocolate chips be substituted in a recipe that calls for chocolate dots. I would be happy to answer her/him, but I have never heard of chocolate dots!!! :)
Anne, My mum used to cook and use choc dots to decorate sponges and cakes in the early 1960's.

They came in very similar packets to the choc chips, so yes, you can use the chips, no problem.
