Canapes
I'm cooking for 4 next week and as we're having a cheeseboard after dessert have decided not to have sit-down starters as well.
I would like however, a couple of tasty canape type things to nibble. I know I can use bellinis but any other ideas? Cucumer slices with cream cheese and small piece of sun riped tomato sounds lovely and the kind of small thing am thinking of...

20 small (little finger size) dill pickles
2 packages thin sliced dried roast beef
1- 8 ounce package cream cheese
1 package multi-colored round toothpicks
The dried beef we use is slightly spiced and the slices average about 4 inches wide and perhaps 6 inches long. Cut each one in half, place a healthy dollop of the cream cheese on each slice and spread evenly. Place one of the pickles at the end of the slice and roll, fastening with a round toothpick. We've also used the small sweet pickles for the filling, but seems most like the dills. Place in a container in the refrigerator until needed... they disappear in a hurry...
Here's the dried beef we use, as an example: http://www.harringtonham.com/prod.cfm/cid/5/pi d/95/pp/1
I'm sure a similar product is available in the U.K.
Best of luck!

Well the party was a long time ago now and your ideas were ok but I stuck to the blini's idea with some cream cheese and smoked salmon and cheese and pickle and I also did mini pizza's and king prawns fried in garlic.
Your ideas were very helpful BBWCHATT but I'm not the greatest cook so needed something simple & easy to do.
Many thanks,
