why do people (the waiters) always look at me funny when i ask for fried/battered chicken with satay sauce? they don't do it with satay sauce only with sweet and sour i was told in one restaurant today. why so? arn't battered chicken and satay sauce supposed to mix? if so, why not?

thanks

Chicken satay is strips of cooked chicken in a peanut sauce, its what you serve satay with - fried/battered chicken is another matter. of course they look at you in a funny way - its like going into a fish and chip shop and asking for a portion of cod and chips with raspberry jam
Maybe if you order sweet & sour chicken and ask them to substitute the satay sauce for the sweet & sour sauce they will understand it better:) I say order what makes you happy - I do:) I sometimes order sweet & sour chicken or pork without any sauce at all!!!
