Hi what is the best way to poach an egg if you do not have an egg poacher.cheers whf

line a cup with cling film allowing lots of overlap and crack your egg into it. twist the top to seal it or use a plastic bag clip and then drop the bundle into boiling/ simmering water. a large egg may take up to 4 minutes but the result is absolutely fool-proof and a totally perfect poached egg.
i used to do the frying pan of water method but this beats it hands...

Bring a pan of water to the boil, add a drop of vinegar to the water, now, turn down the heat by half, get a spoon and stir the water up to make a 'whirlpool' and launch your egg off a saucer into the 'eye' of the whirlpool in the centre. doing this help the white wrap around the yolk and cook better.
