if a snail had to cross a 2 metre high fence
he could climb 80cm during the day but at night he would fall 50cm
how many days would it take the snail to reach the top of the fence ?
can anyone help i am stuck

At the end of day 1 he would have climbed 80cm and fallen back 50, meaning he's actually managed 30cm.
At end of day 2, 60cm, day 3 90, day 4 120.

During Day 5 he climbs his 80 cm from his starting point of 120 and reaches the top, so he doesn't slide back. Job done. As scotman says, 5 days.
