Xbox 360 Games

Can anyone give me some tips as to what xbox games are suitable for a nearly 13 year old boy. He wants an xbox for his birthday but haven't had any experience of these consoles so not sure what games are worth buying. Age appropriate games are quite important so COD etc is not an option!

All your CODs and Battlefield have fairly strong language (but nothing he wont have heard in the school playground). If he likes shooters, stick with the Halo franchise. Driving games are usually safe if you avoid the Grand Thefts.

Just to stick my two pennorth in about Grand Theft auto....whilst agreeing that the overall concept is not 'nice' I think a huge amount of moral panic and hypocrisy surrounds the series. I'm not a gamer but I've watched my son and his mates playing GTO. On the basis of this I'd suggest that the game gives the thoughtfully disposed the opportunity to decide how to act. Which has got to be a good thing.
The not thoughtfully disposed won't notice much anyway.

Mosaic, I agree with you about GTA But then on the basis that the cartoon violence of Tom and Jerry is generally worse than any COD game and that the language is no more that school playgrounds or any town high street I have never had a problem with any of my kids playing any game that they want. They are all adults now and don't seem to have suffered by playing the odd age restricted shooter. This 13 year old will have access at any friends house anyway so i think the concern is unwarranted

My mate is obsessed with Bioshock Infinite just now. I don't know for sure but it doesn't seem that it would have a high age rating. Maybe look into it?
