Don't apologise at all as I have many friends who lack a sense of humour as they hold it all in and are tense all the time but if you just relax,let yourself go and let it wash all over you without fighting the gags however childish they are then a smirk become smile becomes an uncontrollable sidesplitting fit of merriment and mirth.
