Which is the best? PSP or DS Lite? I know the PSP is about double the price of the DS, but if it is far superior I might be willing to stump up the extra dosh? My son likes playing platform games etc. so what do you think? Thanks.

If he likes platform games, he'd probably prefer the psp.
But the DS has Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros both of which are great.
This is a tough one because you'll never really get an unbiased answer because Sony fans will shun the DS and Nintendo fans will shun the PSP.

I own a DS Lite and it's alright for playing now and then but it is limited for original gameplay (with the stylus) when compared to a Game Boy Advance.

There are probably more titles available for the PSP, and it can also play movies, music etc etc The only down side is that if you want to do all this you'll have to buy bigger memory cards (and they're not exactly cheap).

But overall I think your son will be happier with the PSP because it'll be worth it in the long run.

Thanks for your views everybody. Looks like I'll have to stump up the extra dosh, lol.
I'd have to disagree with 198x, the DS has a far greater number of games covering the whole spectrum of genres. It is quite incorrect to say that the DS is limited for original gameplay, just look at the Warioware games or Brain Training or Nintendogs or Mario 64 DS, the list goes on and on.

I'm certainly no fan boy or hardcore gamer. I own both formats and I can honestly say that there have been more games that tickled my fancy on the DS than on the PSP.
I too would personally recommend the DS over the PSP.

It also depends on your son's age. The older he is the more likley he would prefer the PSP I guess.

One of th big issues for me is the battery life on the DS I only charge it up once a month or so and it lasts the whole month.
deoends on how old your son is (if it is for him)
I'd say Nintendo DS is for anyone under 16 really, as the games are very childish (no offense) like Mario & Crew (lol) , the psp offer more mature games....like Grand Theft Auto +++
