icons missings

Please can anyone help we bought our daughter a pink nintendo ds and we put the nintendo dogs game card in we have the home icon showing but nothing else so she cannot play with it it is probably something stupid or do you think it is a faulty game card we have no going out icon shopping list icon many thanks

i have just got this myself, and once you have adopted a dog(s), then you have to first teach it how to sit and then you get to take them home and then you will get the icons.
To get the dog to sit, pat his head then move the stylus down to the floor straight from his head and he should sit, and there should be a little lightbulb press that then say 'sit' or 'sit down' and keep doing this till he/she has learnt (this can take forever!), i think you also have to make them learn their name too so when you call them they respond.
