Anybody know of any old etiquette books still in print? My mother had one that was published late forties/early fifties and it was hilarious....it wasn't meant to be, of course. I'm looking for the kind of Celia Johnson stuff that you might have expected for that era. Anyone?
I'm not sure whether it will get you sorted or where you live, but if you find secondhand/antique book dealers or shops in the yellow pages for the nearest main to you, it might be worth giving some a buzz. I was after a particular book for my Dad some time ago and left the details with a couple of dealers. It took a few weeks but they eventually found a copy and not too expensive either. Good luck.
By one of those strange quirks of fate that happen only once in a lifetime I can help you. I do not have a book nor do I know where you might get one ,but...our music teacher at school back in the forties was called Hetty Kett.
