Star Wars Lego ii

Help I'm stuck!! Tragically I've got right into the Star Wars Lego games on PS2 but I've hit a wall.
In Episode V the Hoth battle I've been given a snowspeeder to battle through the AT-STs and then I come across a gate which appears to be accessable only to imperial vehicles. How do I get through it??

Not sure, (still waiting on my ebay auction of it to arrive ) but in the game during the first play there are loads of areas you cant reach due to being the wrong type of player etc. and can only reach them in Story mode

Thanks JD. Unfortunately I have limited access to a pc and the fun police where i work have cut me off from all sites with anything to do with gaming!!
I am playing it in story mode at the moment. In my experience of the first game all levels are completeable (is that a word?) using the given characters. Its the bonus parts which are accessable during freeplay. Good luck when you receive your copy. Keep me posted if you get through the gate before I do!

When you finish the level the you'll unlock a Tie Fighter.
You'll then be able to replay the level with the Tie Fighter and get through the doors you couldn't before.

Bit of a catch 22. I can't fiish the level because i cant get through the gate ,unless there is an alternative way which I'm currently too dim to work out! It's so frustrating. I will keep trying and i'm sure it will be obvious when i find it.

You don't need access to any of those kind of areas to finish the level.
If you're at the area where I think you are try grappling a bomb and taking it to the big barrier far north.

ignore the gate for now ..that's for tie-fighters only ..

go to the extreme other end of the map (top end), drag a bomb or two into the 'cave' type area ... fly throught the hole you blast open.
