They are still in very short supply so getting hold of one won't be that easy. The games specifically designed for the Wii are a bit thin on the ground, although you can play all of the Nintendo games on it, not necessarily with the Wii Mote Controller, you need the Classic controllers for the older games. It is easy to use and quite compact. I know other people will probably say the graphics are not that good and to go with an XBox360 or PS3, but we have always had the Nintendo consoles and like them so each to their own in that respect I suppose.
Hi, I have a 360 and a wii
The main reason i got a wii was for the children, 360 and ps games are a little more blood and guts/war /crime.
nintendo are more sweet and innocent, nintendo also have the knack of making very playble simple games.
Graphics are better on the ps2 let alone the ps3 and the 360 but it really doesnt affect the gameplay.
pros wii
anyone can play straight way, the controler is easy and people who dont normaly play video games can easily get involved.games are thin on the ground ther eare only a hand ful worth getting to be honest.
tiny neat box
internet browser
abilty to buy cheap games via the web
if you play the games in the way you are supposed to it is a physical work out as well (also a con :-)
gamecube games work fine (2 on ebay)
you can play flash games on line www.wiicade.com
cons
its is more family /friends oreintated so you need to buy extra controllers 2 per person and classic if you want some of the older games.
games are quite simple and although have replay value you can finish pretty much all of them on the day you buy them. (if yur new to gaming ignore that)
after buying a wii and a few games and controllers i find my self now a month later playing the older games from nintendo store which dont use the wiimote.
and im talking really old donkey kong simcity etc
just down to good gameplay.
worth buying yes totaly, but the wii mote the main sales point does lose its wow factor quite soon,
if you want to stay in a room and play games on your own all night then a 360 or playstaion might be better for you, if you want to play with friends and are more intersted in gameplay than graphics than go for the wii
oh the wii gets more use

the last line should be
the wii gets used a lot more than the 360 which says alot about which is better its not always about how many polygons you can throw around the screen.
its not HD, so what changing the xbox between normal and HD your hard pushe dto see the diffrence.
if your familiar with the story of the emperors new clothes
and then relate that to hd is sooooo good it looks amazing and the next gen consoles are better than th wii. all subjectve of course

I've got Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz for my Wii because I loved the previous two Gamecube versions.
I don't like this new one.
I find the controls to be just a bit too vague and imprecise.
On the Gamecube versions I could release the stick, the world would level out and my monkey would stop rolling. In the new one with the tilt controls that's just not an option. You're constantly having to tip the controller back and forth to keep the monkey from rolling into oblivion. I can't play for long because my hand starts to hurt rather quickly.
And Red Steel sucks big time.
But other than that Wii Sports, Warioware and Zelda are all fab. I've also become addicted to Soldier Blade on the virtual console.
