PS 2 problem

anyone else ever have a problem with their ps2 not reading discs? (Esp dvds, but some games too)

The only reason i can think of for why a DVD is not working on the ps2 is because it is not the correct region DVD. for example PS2's only play region 2 DVD's as far as the games are concerned are u sure its not damage to the disc itslef causing it not to work rather than the playstation.

thanks pj - yes, it's a brand new (region 2) disc, no scratches or marks, plays fine in everything else. Noticed some others that I used to play on it have stopped working too.

I had the same trouble with mine some time ago , just b4 it packed up! it would not play any blue coloured disks. And would not play games or DVD's it used to.So beware and start saving for that PS3, its worth it!

Youve got the dreaded DRE disc read error...
If you dont mind voiding the warrenty you can find several easy guides on how to fix it.
just google PS2 DRE and you'll find plenty of advice

If your ps2 is chipped it will not play blue coulered discs of any discription.
