How to clean Wii nunchuk joystick.

Does anyone know how to clean the top of the joystick on the Wii nunchuk? It is made of much softer plastic than the rest - almost like rubber.

simply remove the plastic/rubber, its just a protective covering, you can still use it without this.
i assume these are spare controllers bought later and not the one that came with the game and console, if so its the same as the ones i have and the rubber is a bit like a pouch, simply slide it off over the top and sort of roll it down to the bottom.

Thanks Dave, but the nunchuk came with the Wii and the tip of the joystick doesn't seem loose.
