my grandaughter has the red ring of death on her xbox 360 and cannot use it is there any way to remove this

yep, it's (hopefully) called the warranty.

unfortunatly she bought it on ebay no warranty included

oh dear. she could try contacting microsoft and blagging it as they have extended the warranty to 3 years for red ring of death faults. but the warranty only really applies to the original purchaser.

if no luck with MS and if it's 3 lights it's dead and most places won't repair them anymore as they invariably fail again
