I just got this game today, but there seems to be no tutorial for combat, how do you get a good score on attacking? I keep getting bad.

When the ring that is shrinking is directly over the ring that remains static then you press the Right Trigger. If you time it correctly and they are overlapped almost perfectly you'll get "Perfect". If they are close but not quite, you'll get "Good". If you press too soon or don't press at all (too late), you'll get "Bad".
