I keep noticing that Cash Generator have PS3's 120GB for sale, often around £80. However, the fault is that the PS3 can not read disc's, is it something that can be fixed easy?

I had a fault with mine not ejecting, so i took it to a company to get repaired (don't even bother calling sony, bunch of crooks) they repaired the problem but then couldn't get it too read disc, after a week they admitted defeat and gave it back. Currys do a deal where you can buy now pay in 12 months time, however you can pay some during the year if you wish.
PS3 that isn't reading discs then yes it is possible to have them fixed, you can call sony and if it's still in warrenty they will fix it free of charge, if not they will charge you about £120. Ask the shop if it's blu-ray or dvd discs it's not reading as there are 2 lazers inside, if its the blu-ray discs thay cost about £60 so with labour on top the best price you could get would be about £90. Ask at your local computer shops, for the best prices.
Sony won't repair it! I had a argument with them about it, they will send you a reconditioned one with a 3 month warranty. You have to send your old one to them, which is where they get there reconditioned ones from.
@delmac Tell me about it. I've had six ps3's and each time they have wonderfully fluffed up. So i switched to xbox 360. Needless to say it was the best thing i ever did.
Ha. Nice filter Answerbank.
I was peed of with them, they were'nt interested in repairing it, they said they lost money if they repaired it, which is rubbish because they could just charge you for repairs. Iv'e had to stay with them, had to many games to replace.
